Copycat Dairy Queen Chocolate Dipped Cone
Ingredients
Soft Serve Base
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Chocolate Shell
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
Instructions
1. Make soft serve base
Whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt until fully combined.
Chill for at least 2–3 hours.
2. Churn ice cream
Add mixture to ice cream maker and churn until soft-serve consistency.
(If no machine: freeze and stir every 30 minutes until smooth and creamy.)
3. Shape cone
Pipe or scoop ice cream into a swirl on a cone.
Freeze for 20–30 minutes so it firms slightly.
4. Make chocolate shell
Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil together until smooth.
Let cool slightly — it should still be liquid but not hot.
5. Dip
Dip the frozen soft serve into the chocolate.
The shell will harden within seconds.
Tips
- Coconut oil is key — it creates that snap shell
- Slightly freeze the ice cream before dipping so it holds shape
- Don’t overheat chocolate or it’ll melt the ice cream
- Work quickly when dipping
