Copycat Arby’s Italian Beef Dip
Ingredients
Beef
- 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli-style or homemade)
Bread
- 2 hoagie buns or sub rolls
Cheese (optional but recommended)
- 4 slices provolone or mozzarella
Italian Seasoning Broth (Au Jus)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1. Make au jus
In a saucepan, combine beef broth, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer for 10–15 minutes to develop flavour.
2. Heat beef
Add sliced beef to the broth briefly (1–2 minutes) to warm and absorb flavour.
Do not overcook.
3. Prepare bread
Lightly toast hoagie buns for structure.
4. Assemble sandwich
Add beef to bun.
Top with cheese.
(Optional: broil for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese.)
5. Serve
Pour au jus into a small bowl for dipping.
Tips
- Use thin sliced beef — key to texture
- Don’t soak sandwich fully before eating — dip as you go
- Toasting bread helps prevent it from falling apart
- Add giardiniera (optional) for a more authentic Italian beef flavour
