Copycat Recipe: Bacon Portabella Mushroom Melt (Wendy’s BPMM)

Ingredients

Burger

  • 1 beef patty (¼ lb)
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1 portabella mushroom cap (sliced)
  • 1 slice Swiss or white cheddar cheese
  • 1 brioche or sandwich bun

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Cook bacon

Cook bacon until crispy. Set aside.

2. Cook mushrooms

Sauté sliced portabella mushrooms in a pan with a bit of oil until soft and slightly browned.

3. Cook patty

Cook beef patty to desired doneness. Add cheese on top near the end to melt.

4. Make sauce

Mix mayo, Dijon, garlic powder, and salt.

5. Assemble

Toast bun lightly.

Spread sauce on both sides.

Add patty, mushrooms, bacon, and close.

Tips

  • Don’t skip sautéing mushrooms — raw won’t taste right
  • Use a soft bun to match the texture
  • Swiss cheese gives the closest flavour
  • Keep sauce light so it doesn’t overpower
