Review: Krispy Kreme Harry Potter Doughnuts

Krispy Kreme’s Harry Potter collection is built for fun, but the flavours are a bit of a mixed bag. Each house has its own doughnut, plus the Sorting Hat as a bonus. Here’s how they stacked up for me:

Ravenclaw

A Kreme-filled doughnut dipped in blue icing with sprinkles and a chocolate raven crest. Tastes mostly like a regular glazed doughnut in costume — sweet, simple, and a little too basic for how pretty it looks.

Hufflepuff

Filled with lemon Kreme and topped with yellow icing and a chocolate badger crest. The lemon is light and refreshing, which makes this one stand out. Subtle, but it works.

Slytherin

Green icing, cookie crumb topping, and a chocolate serpent crest. The crumbs add a nice texture that makes it feel a little different from the others. This was one of the stronger house flavours.

Gryffindor

Red icing, golden pearl, and a chocolate lion crest. Mine came across a little spiced, but mostly it’s sweet and light. Definitely more about the look than the taste, but still enjoyable.

Sorting Hat

Chocolate-dipped with a hidden Kreme filling in a random house colour. The chocolate on top is very sweet and takes over the first few bites. By the time you reach the filling, it doesn’t add much more than sugar. The “house reveal” is fun, though — mine came out right.

Toppers :

Edible, sure, but more for looks. They don’t add flavour and can leave a faint aftertaste.

Bottom Line: The Harry Potter set is all about novelty. Gryffindor and Slytherin stand out a little, but overall it’s more about the fun of getting “your house” than the actual flavour. Great for fans, not must-buys for taste alone.

✨ Want the magic at home? Next week I’ll be sharing my copycat recipes for the Harry Potter doughnuts — complete with a Sorting Hat surprise filling. Keep an eye out if you’d rather conjure them up in your own kitchen.
