McDonald’s McVeggie Burger Review

When I first unwrapped the McVeggie, it honestly looked like a regular McDonald’s burger. Neat, plain, and straightforward — nothing that screamed “special” or even “new,” just a simple sandwich that could easily be mistaken for one of their basic menu staples.

The patty itself was where things started to fall apart. Texture-wise, it was mushy and soft, without the satisfying bite you’d hope for. Instead of crisp edges or a hearty interior, it leaned toward almost soggy. Flavor-wise, it didn’t deliver much either — a vague, moist “veggie” taste that didn’t have the boldness or spice you’d expect to elevate a plant-based option.

What surprised me most was that the lettuce actually stood out more than the patty itself. With no other toppings beyond lettuce, there was nothing to add contrast — no tomato, no cheese, no sauce to tie it together. The end result was a burger where everything sort of blended into “nothing,” except for the occasional crunch of lettuce.

Texture-wise, the entire experience was overwhelmingly soft and one-note. While the portion size was fine — comparable to McDonald’s other sandwiches — and the price sits fairly in line with the rest of the menu, it didn’t feel like good value considering how flat the taste was.

Overall, the McVeggie is filling enough, but not satisfying. It doesn’t capture the heartiness of a classic burger, nor does it shine as a creative plant-based alternative. Unless you’re strictly looking for a vegetarian option and don’t mind a lack of flavor, this one is an easy skip. Personally, I wouldn’t order it again — and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone hoping for a “meat alternative” experience.
