Copycat Krispy Kreme Iced Brown Butter Latte
Nutty, toasty, and bold, this iced latte captures the essence of Krispy Kreme’s brown butter version. The brown butter flavor isn’t overly sweet—it’s layered and subtle, adding depth to the coffee. Here’s how to make it at home with real browned butter.
Ingredients (1 serving):
1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half for richness)
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 shot espresso (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
½ tsp vanilla extract
1–2 tsp brown sugar (optional, for balance)
Ice cubes
Instructions:
In a small pan over medium heat, melt the butter and let it cook until golden brown and nutty (about 3–4 minutes). Remove from heat.
Whisk the browned butter into the milk until fully incorporated (you can froth it lightly for a smoother texture). Let it cool.
Fill a glass with ice. Pour in the coffee or espresso.
Add the brown butter milk mixture over the top. Stir gently.
Sweeten lightly with brown sugar if desired, but keep it subtle to preserve the nutty flavor.
Tip: To mimic Krispy Kreme’s heavier body, blend the brown butter milk with 1 tbsp protein powder (vanilla or unflavored). It thickens the drink and gives it that lingering mouthfeel without overpowering the flavor.
