Copycat Recipe: Krispy Kreme Artemis II Doughnut
Ingredients
Dough
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt
Chocolate Glaze
- 1½ cups icing sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Cream Filling (optional but recommended)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla
Decoration (space theme)
- white icing (for drizzle)
- sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
Instructions
1. Activate yeast
In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make dough
Add sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt.
Mix in flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. First rise
Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
5. Shape
Roll out dough and cut into rounds.
6. Second rise
Let rest 20–30 minutes.
7. Fry
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry doughnuts until golden on both sides.
Remove and let cool slightly.
8. Make filling
Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until thick but smooth.
9. Fill doughnuts
Pipe filling into the center of each doughnut.
10. Make glaze
Mix icing sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
11. Coat
Dip doughnuts into chocolate glaze while slightly warm.
12. Decorate
Drizzle white icing across the top to create a “space swirl” look.
Add sprinkles or edible glitter if desired.
