Copycat Recipe: Tim Hortons Custard Tart
Ingredients
Tart Shell
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup butter (cold, cubed)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2–3 tbsp cold water
Custard Filling
- 1 cup milk
- 2 egg yolks
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Make tart shell
Mix flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly.
Add water slowly until dough forms.
Press into small tart molds.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
2. Make custard
Heat milk until warm (not boiling).
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch.
Slowly add warm milk while whisking.
Return to heat and cook until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
3. Assemble
Pour custard into baked tart shells.
Let cool completely before serving.
Tips
- Don’t overbake shells — keep them light
- Stir custard constantly to avoid lumps
- Chill before eating for best texture
- Keep custard smooth and not too thick
