Krispy Kreme Review: Easter Egg Basket Doughnut

This one is very clearly designed to be more of a themed, visual doughnut, but it actually ends up being a bit more complete than expected.

Visually, it’s one of the more detailed seasonal designs. You’ve got the basket-style icing, usually some texture to mimic that woven look, and extra toppings that give it that “Easter basket” feel. It stands out immediately.

The first bite is soft and light, exactly what you expect from a Krispy Kreme base. That part is always consistent.

Flavour-wise, it leans sweet, but not overly aggressive. The icing carries most of the flavour, and depending on the version, you’ll get a mix of vanilla-style sweetness with small bits of added topping for variation.

What makes this one better than most themed doughnuts is that it actually has a bit of texture contrast. The base is soft, but the toppings add:

  • slight crunch
  • small bursts of sweetness
  • variation between bites

It keeps it from feeling completely one-note.

That said, it’s still not a complex doughnut. It’s very much built around sweetness and presentation rather than depth.

It’s easy to eat, not overly heavy, and doesn’t feel like too much.

Final Verdict:

Fun, slightly more textured than expected, and easy to enjoy. Still simple, but better balanced than most themed doughnuts.
