Review: Crumbl Chocolate Wafer Bar Cookie

The Chocolate Wafer Bar cookie starts off strong—you get the chocolate flavor right away, with that familiar wafer taste layered in, followed by the classic Crumbl cookie base. But the excitement doesn’t linger long. The wafer and chocolate fade quickly, leaving more of a standard cookie impression than the candy-bar-meets-cookie promise the look suggests.

Visually, it feels like it should be a melted Kit Kat on top of a cookie, but in practice the wafer doesn’t deliver. There’s no crunch to it, so while the taste is there, the texture is missing. The chocolate itself is a highlight, though—a rich milk chocolate that was a smart choice, since without it the cookie would feel too plain.

Texture-wise, the cookie leans on the dry side. It’s crumbly rather than smooth or gooey, and with the wafer offering no crunch, there isn’t much contrast to break it up. The mini size felt just right—it’s enjoyable, but not something you’d need in full size to be satisfied.

Bottom Line:

The Chocolate Wafer Bar cookie looks like it should be a candy-bar dream, but in reality it’s more muted. A little dry, with missing crunch, but still tasty thanks to the chocolate. Not a standout, but not a skip either—I’d eat it again, just without high expectations.

Next week, I’ll be sharing my exclusive copycat recipe for a Chocolate Wafer Cookie that actually keeps the crunch — rich milk chocolate, a soft cookie base that isn’t crumbly, and crisp wafer pieces baked in so every bite delivers the texture you expect. Subscribe so you don’t miss it.
