Wendy’s Review: Bacon Portabella Mushroom Melt (BPMM)

This one is one of those burgers that sounds like it should be amazing, and honestly… it mostly delivers, but not without a couple things to note.

Visually, it looks solid. You can actually see the mushrooms, the melted cheese, and the bacon — it doesn’t feel like one of those burgers where everything disappears into the bun. It feels a bit more “premium” right away.

The first bite is very rich. The portabella mushrooms bring a deep, earthy flavour that you don’t usually get from fast food burgers. It immediately sets it apart from a basic cheeseburger.

The bacon adds salt and a bit of crunch, which helps balance that heavier mushroom flavour. It’s not overly crispy, but it does its job.

The cheese and sauce are what really pull it together. They add that creamy, slightly savoury element that keeps everything from feeling too dry or too one-note.

That said, this is a heavy burger. It leans more into that rich, almost indulgent side rather than something you’d want all the time.

The balance is good, but it’s definitely mushroom-forward. If you don’t like mushrooms, this is not going to win you over.

Texture-wise, it’s soft overall with small bits of contrast from the bacon and the mushroom pieces. It’s not messy, but it’s not the easiest one-handed burger either.

Price-wise, it feels justified because it does feel like a step above a regular burger.

This is one of those items you get when you want something different, not something standard.

Final Verdict:

Rich, savoury, and mushroom-forward. A solid “treat burger,” but not an everyday pick.
