Copycat Tim Hortons Special Olympics Doughnut
Ingredients
Chocolate Cake Doughnut
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
White Icing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
Topping
- rainbow sprinkles
- whipped cream (for center)
Instructions
1. Make batter
In one bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, mix milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
2. Bake
Pipe or spoon batter into a greased doughnut pan.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
Let cool completely.
3. Make icing
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and slightly thick.
4. Assemble
Dip tops of doughnuts into icing.
Add sprinkles immediately.
Pipe whipped cream into the center hole.
Tips
- Keep icing thick so it sits on top, not runny
- Don’t overbake or the cake will dry out
- Add sprinkles right away so they stick
- Use stabilized whipped cream if making ahead
