Copycat Recipe: Krispy Kreme Strawberry Egg Doughnut

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2¼ cups flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2¼ tsp yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp salt

Strawberry Glaze

  • 1½ cups icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp strawberry puree or jam
  • pink food colouring (optional)

Filling (optional)

  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • ¼ cup whipped cream or cream filling

Instructions

1. Activate yeast

Mix milk and yeast. Let foam.

2. Make dough

Add sugar, egg, butter, salt, and flour. Mix into dough.

3. Knead

Knead until smooth and elastic.

4. Rise

Let rise 1 hour.

5. Shape

Shape into oval/egg shapes.

6. Second rise

Rest 20–30 minutes.

7. Fry

Fry until golden.

8. Fill (optional)

Pipe in strawberry filling once slightly cooled.

9. Glaze

Mix glaze ingredients and dip doughnuts.

Tips

  • Use real strawberry for better flavour
  • Keep glaze smooth, not too thick
  • Don’t overfill or it will leak
  • Let glaze set before serving
